LIBRATIONS
Librations comes from the latin verb libro - are, which means "to balance, to waver".
In the field of astronomy, this word refers to the slow, visible oscillation of a satellite, as seen from the cosmic body around which it is orbitting. This term generally refers to the visible wavering of the Moon relatively to the Earth.
Galileo was one of the first to mention this "peculiar phenomenon : we see more than the strict half of the Moon".
With Librations, we find liberation, vibrations, and always a little bit more than the visible side of things.
Et "librations" dans tout ça?
Ce mot vient du latin librare, qui signifie "mettre en équilibre, se balancer". En astronomie, ce mot fait référence à la lente oscillation, réelle ou apparente, d'un satellite vu à partir du corps céleste autour duquel il orbite.
On parle des librations de la Lune relativement à la Terre. Galilée est l'un des premiers à mentionner cette "étrange particularité: nous voyons plus que la stricte moitié de la Lune".
C'est ce balancement, ce jeu d'équilibre, ce mouvement discret mais fondamental qui nous fait sortir de nos cadres de perception, qui a inspiré ce choix pour le nom du Collectif Librations.
